The Haircut

I debated whether I should title this post "The Haircut" or "Overcoming Fears."  We were so proud of our Ethan on Saturday because he sat through a haircut without screaming, crying, or resisting for the first time.  The lead-up to this involved lots of desensitization of the buzzer by daddy getting his out and running it near Ethan's ears, letting him touch it, etc.  It also involved a well-written and illustrated social story by Grandma Mary, a new book to read during the event from mom, and a new truck as a reward picked out by daddy.

So maybe we can add "haircuts" to the list of fears that Ethan has overcome in his 5 years of life, along with the sound of vacuum cleaners, blenders, lawn mowers, and, well, most other loud noises.  Now if only we could figure out how to conquer the fear of balloons . . . . that's next on our list :)

Potty Trained! (And other news)

I think we officially have a potty trained girl!!  She just decided over the weekend that she was ready and she's been dry for 3 days straight :)  We're super happy!

Macie and one of her preschool teachers - she has 1 more day of preschool left - she LOVED it and will get to go 2 days a week next year which will be awesome!

Macie and I went to the Doll and Pet Parade which she loved!  Lots of our friends were in it which was pretty cool!

Celebrating mothers day with my beautiful kiddos :)

Springtime fun

Ethan is more than happy to help daddy mow the lawn.  He's been waiting and waiting for mowing season to begin!

This is where Ethan will spend most of his summer . . . playing in a dirt pile in our driveway.

Macie is excited about her new 31 bag . . . and she's ready to go to her first theater production - "Dora!"

Here she is with Tico . . .

And Dora and Boots, too!

Ethan is on stage with the treasure chest and pirate flag!

Here is Ethan at the Children's museum.  His favorite part is looking at all the books!

Lauren's Confirmation

Today we went to Grandpa Glenn, Tim, Rose, and Lauren's house for Lauren's Confirmation party.
The kids had fun playing outside - and Ethan especially loved riding the tractor.

Here's Macie with her Easter Bunny.

She loves playing with Annie the cat.

Lauren brought us out to feed the horses.  Here are the kids with cousin Victor.

Easter 2012

We went to the big Strum Easter Egg hunt on Saturday morning.  They were pretty pumped to see the Easter Bunny there.

We also headed to Eleva to Schultz's Barn.  Macie loved feeding the goats.

Ethan has been WAITING for weeks for the bunny to bring him 3 specific books he had picked out on Amazon.  The day finally arrived and he was so excited!

Macie was excited about her basket too - especially the chocolate!

This one just cracks me up :)

We had  brunch with Great Grandpa Glenn and lots of other family at Fanny Hill.  Thank goodness the Easter Bunny showed up to entertain the kids.  They loved dancing with him!

We ended the day with the annual Easter Egg Hunt at Grandma and Grandpa's house.
Macie and Grandma posed on the golf cart for this cute picture :)

Govin's Lambing Barn

We took a trip to the lambing barn this weekend.

The kids loved snuggling with the lambs . . .

And holding the poor baby chicks.

They also loved feeding the goats and sheep.

Happy Spring!

I've decided to revive my poor blog.  We'll see how it goes . . .
Spring is here!  We've really been enjoying being outside a lot!  Both kids got new bikes, which keeps them busy - they love riding up and down the alley and riding to the neighborhood parks.
A rare show of affection on grandma and grandpa's golf cart.  A good golf cart ride brings out the best in anyone.
When mommy and Ethan were on spring break we took a day trip to LaCrosse (daddy's favorite place to visit!).  We went to the children's museum which was super fun and also went to a wonderful park.

Ethan needed a break from the action and requested to sit by himself and read his library books.  Good thing we came prepared with a backpack full of reading material!!
