A Birthday Party!

Yesterday, Mom's friend Kyra invited us to her mom's 60th birthday party at the park! Ethan and mom went, and we had a blast! Here is Ethan playing with his new little friend.

Before we left, Ethan had to give Kyra a big kiss!
Here is a little video from breakfast this morning for your entertainment. The purpose is to show how DEMANDING little Ethan can be! In case you can't understand him, he is saying "MORE!" throughout the video.

Another Big Nap

Ethan went down for his nap yesterday at 3:00 in the afternoon and didn't wake up until 6:00 this morning! He wasn't sick, so I'm not sure what the deal was - maybe going through a growth spurt? Just what he needs!

We are having a laid back Saturday as a family, which is nice. Ethan loves it when both mom and dad are home to play with him!

Fun with the Cousins

Ethan's cousins Andrew and Camryn came to spend the day with us today! It was so much fun!

We had lunch at McDonald's and all the kids enjoyed playing in the Play land.

Then we got out the sprinkler and had fun running through it. We even moved the slide under it so we had a water slide!
Ethan loves playing in his new sandbox. However, he gets just filthy dirty in there, and eats sand by the fist fulls. Camryn had fun playing with him!
Ethan's big cousins are so good with him! He is lucky to have them in his life :)

After getting very dirty outside, Ethan took a bath, got into his jammies, and took a nice long nap!

Big Guy, Little Guy

Ethan and daddy spent some quality time together yesterday while mom went out for lunch with some good friends. Daddy and Ethan are modeling their new shirts from Grandma Sandy and Grandpa Les (for Father's Day).

Daddy's says, "Big Guy" and Ethan's says, "Little Guy." Mama is lucky to have 2 such handsome guys in her life!

Back to His Old Self

After being sick yesterday, Ethan woke up this morning back to his old energetic self. Here he is playing in his PJ's this morning.

Today was a hot day so we got out the sprinkler Ethan had received as a birthday gift and cooled off in the water. Ethan was a bit leery of it, but enjoyed playing in the "ADDAH."
Here are the beautiful flowers mom got from dad for their 3rd anniversary (7 years together!)

The Amazing 6 1/2 Hour Nap

Yup, that's right - Ethan napped for 6.5 hours today! I put him down at 10:30 AM and he didn't wake until 5 pm. When he woke up he had a fever of 102, so he's under the weather, which explains the need for lots of sleep, I guess. He also has refused to eat anything today. Poor little guy. I wonder if he will go down for a normal night's sleep tonight . . .

He has been letting mom and dad enjoy summer by sleeping in until 8:30 this week -what a nice treat! Let's hope it continues.

Teddy Bear Park

Today Ethan and Mom met Theresa, Bryan, Isaac, and Lily at beautiful Teddy Bear Park in Stillwater, MN.

They have tons of things for toddlers to play on. Ethan loved going down the slides!
He also loved pretending to drive . . .
Here are Theresa and Issac in the big "boat."
Of course we made the kids pose by one of the teddy bears. We all had such a fun day, and it was beautiful weather too!
After our afternoon at the park, Ethan and mom met mom's good friend, Debbie, in Hudson for supper. It was so great to see her! However, I must issue an apology to anyone who was seated on the deck of the restaurant we ate at, as Ethan was a bit loud due to lack of napping. He would scream, mom would say, "NO screaming!" and he would laugh in mom's face. I bet the patrons of the restaurant won't be giving me the Mother of the Year Award any time soon!

Happy Father's Day!

We had a fun day with daddy today! Here, Ethan was being a bit uncooperative about getting his picture taken . . .

For lunch, we went to Famous Dave's, dad's favorite restaurant. Then this afternoon we went to Great Grandma and Grandpa's house to celebrate Grandma Lue's 83rd birthday, and of course, to see 2 of Ethan's 4 grandpas on Father's Day!

Here he is with Grandpa Glenn . . .
and Grandpa Mike . . .
and a better shot with daddy!!
Here are Ethan and daddy last father's day. My, how he's changed!

Sawdust City Days

Ethan and his cousins, aunts, mom and Grandma went to a fair here in town today. The kids got to make macaroni and fruit loop necklaces, which served as the perfect "on the go snack."

Ben and Oliver got to help paint this big plaster hand . . .
but Victor and Ethan just had to watch - we were afraid the paint would go right into their mouths!
Here are all the cousins - it was a beautiful day to be outside!
We all went for a carousal ride. Ethan HATED it. Granted, it went REALLY fast! So, mom had to whisk him off his horse and put him onto one of those stationary benches they had. That was a little better.
Ethan had his first experience getting his teeth brushed tonight, and it went well! He loved it, in fact. I think it is going to become part of our nightly routine, after bath time.

swinging

Ethan LOVES swinging in his swing outside. We all went out for some family swing time yesterday evening. It was a beautiful night, and Ethan had fun. He could stay in his swing for hours!

Mom and dad made swing time extra special by adding bubbles to the event. Ethan was entertained!
We apologize for the blog hiatus this week - it has been a crazy week for mom teaching summer school. Now that is over and the summer can begin!!

Lizzy and Mike's Wedding

Ethan had a very exhausting, but fun weekend! He made the 4 hour trip down to Milwaukee with mom and daddy to see Auntie Lizzy (mom's cousin) get married. It was an absolutely gorgeous outdoor ceremony.
However, it was extremely hot - about 90 degrees - and Ethan was pretty uncomfortable. He had fun exploring the park we were at.

He also got to see his cousin Leah, who is almost exactly the same age as him! She looks like a little movie star . . .
After the ceremony, we tried to put Ethan down for a nap at the hotel, but to no avail. He was very worn out and hadn't had a nap all day!

Then, we got a knock on our door from Grandma Mary telling us that everyone had to go to the lobby because there were tornadoes coming! So, Ethan, mom, dad, Grandma, Grandpa, Aunt Michelle, Victor, Aunt Jenny, Oliver, and Ben all had to hang out in the lobby for about an hour and a half waiting for a huge storm to pass through.

We were all supposed to be in this little area where the elevators are, away from the windows, and it was seriously about 90 degrees in there, with no ventilation. It was pretty miserable with all the kids running around, not to mention a soccer team of teenage boys there too! (And did I mention Ethan had not had a nap all day?) Things were pretty tense for awhile, but then we got the OK to go back to our rooms.

Daddy offered to stay in the room with Ethan so he could sleep while mom and her family went to the wedding reception which was a couple blocks from the hotel. (That was so nice, daddy!!)

It was fun to watch Lizzy, who looked like a princess!, have so much fun at the dinner and dance. We all had a wonderful time! Great Grandma and Grandpa were the couple there who were married the longest - 58 years! (Aren't they cute?)
This morning Ethan awoke at 5:15 am and refused to go back to sleep, so we went down to the lobby for breakfast, packed up, and headed home, dropping off Uncle Luke in Madison on the way. We got home at about 12:30 and Ethan has been sleeping ever since (it's 4:15). He's one tired guy!

Happy Birthday, Grandma Mary!

To help celebrate Grandma's birthday, the family went to a fancy brunch on Sunday at a local restaurant. Ethan was quite the chatter box. There was a little girl who was 20 months sitting near us, and he desperately wanted to make friends with her. He also enjoyed engaging Cousin Victor in deep conversation.

Here's the birthday girl and Grandpa Mike. What a good looking couple!
