A Full Night's Sleep

We all slept through the night last night and slept in this morning until 7:00!!! (which is when I need to have everyone loaded into the car for work and daycare!).  The kids seemed to be in a good mood when woken up, even though they both have runny noses.  Somehow I made it to work on time, and the kids are safely at daycare . . . Hopefully they have a good day.  It's amazing how good I feel after sleeping through the night, even though I didn't get a shower this morning.

Some updates

Ethan:
has been sick.  Poor thing.  When he's sick, he's really "off."  I'm not sure what he has, but he's feverish and not wanting to eat.  Poor thing.  He's been waking up a LOT at night, wanting water, and for mama to sleep with him.  His bed is actually  kind of comfortable . . .Hopefully he'll feel better after spending a day with Grandma today.

Macie:
is teething.  She also has been getting up at night.  However, during the day she's her regular old spunky self.  Her new favorite word is, "outside."  She also enjoys using a spoon now.  She'll take a bite, put the spoon down, and give herself a round of applause for her accomplishment.

Let's do the math:
1 sick 3 year old + 1 teething 1 year old = 1 VERY tired mama

For some reason, I've been neglecting my camera and my blog lately . . .

Here are some updates:

*Last Sunday we had an indoor/outdoor photo shoot done for the kids' 1 and 3 year pictures. The picture in the heading is an example of her handy work - and, I might add - a miracle that we ever got both kids smiling and looking at the camera. I will post more pics when I receive the full disc of pictures. I think we're going to love them!

* Ethan has been very into his John Deere movie and I just discovered today that he can recite almost the entire thing along with the narrator! He can also sing the catchy tunes that are played throughout the movie.

* He has also been getting a little more into pretend play - for example, he has discovered that a pull-up works great as a helmet! (it is absolutely hilarious - I will post a picture sometime).

* Macie has been VERY BUSY! She is always exploring, chattering, and making us laugh. Her language is coming so nicely and it's fun to communicate with her! A small example of some of her words: "All done!" "no, no" "upsie daisy." Every day we hear something new come out of her mouth. We had to rearrange her room because she kept turning her light on while in her crib.

* Today Trav and I got some alone time in LaCrosse. I had to attend a class there, and Trav went with to enjoy his old stompin' grounds. It was fun to reconnect, but - I'm sure you can guess what we talked about the entire time - our beautiful kids!

Play Date

Today we had some special visitors - Lily and Finn! We've been waiting excitedly for them to move closer to us, and now that they are just 1 state away, we will be able to play with them much more often! My favorite time of the day was when both of my kids went down for their naps and Angela and I got to catch up. How great to reconnect with a wonderful friend. The kids must have worn each other out, because Finn fell asleep as soon as he hit the car seat, and Ethan took a 4 hour afternoon nap! (Things were a little too crazy to think about taking pictures . . . )

This afternoon I told Ethan I was making a grocery list and asked what he would like me to get at the grocery store. His first response was, "food." He then got more specific. "Cookies, cupcakes, cake, and birthday cake!" That should be an easy shopping trip!

Next Blog

My friend Theresa recently reminded me how much fun it is to click on "next blog" above and see what kind of blogs you run into. Most are moms posting pictures of their adorable children and recounting the amazing things they do (pretty much like my blog). It's fascinating to get a sneak peek into other people's lives. You should try it - click on next blog. Every time you do it, something different comes up . . . .
